Cable vs. DSL Providers: Is There a High Speed Advantage?

High speed internet providers have been offering services for both cable and DSL users for years.  The eternal struggle between DSL providers and cable companies to find dominance in the broadband industry has been going on since digital subscriber lines came on the scene.  But which one is really better? It can be a difficult choice since both services take you to the same internet. Neither cable or nor DSL will require users to have an additional phone line, which ultimately saves you money on your monthly cost. Their offerings are very similar and consumer have become unaware of the major differences between the two.

DSL providers designate bandwidth for users so that it doesn’t matter how many people are using the internet in your area, you will still receive the same speed. Cable internet speeds tend to fluctuate depending on the number of people accessing the internet in the general service area. Cable providers tend to have slightly higher monthly fees and costs than DSL providers.  However, cable users typically show higher average speeds even in peak hours.  Ultimately, it comes down to preference, but knowing how you use the internet will help to make your decision for the most appropriate broadband package.
