Beef And Red Wine Are Good Partners, So Why Not In The Same Pot?

Some of the traditional recipes I’ve found for beef burgundy have been a little, how shall I say, offsetting.  They’re complicated.  Which often means I won’t even attempt them. Who’s got time?  My simple solution is a Crock Pot Beef Burgundy that’s easy with only a few ingredients, mostly found in my pantry.  With just three cans of soup and a little red wine, you can turn inexpensive beef stew meat into a gourmet style dinner.  I like to serve this over some nice hot egg noodles for a stroganoff style.

More and more people are cooking with wine, and with good reason.  Wine adds another dimension of flavor to dishes.  When you make crock pot meals that call for wine, be reminded that the alcohol cooks out, so you won’t have any of the strong taste left, just the subtle flavor.  And might I stress that you should never use any wine that a person wouldn’t drink, so leave the “cooking wines” alone.  Buy yourself a $6 to $8 bottle of wine and set it aside for your recipes.  You’ll feel like a real gourmet cook!
