I wanted to invite people over for an informal party, and as I was deciding what to serve for a no-stress, no-fuss menu, I came up with the idea of a soup party. I thought this time of year, hot soup sounds good. I’ll make a few appetizers, buy some wine, purchase bread bowls from a bakery near my house and make two different soups. That way people have a choice of what type of soup they would like to eat, and can even try both. I’ll make them the night before my party, refrigerate, and reheat the soups in one of my Paula Deen pots right before my guests arrive. I think the flavor of the soup is richer when they are made in advance. The day of the party, I’ll have the energy to make a really great rich desert. You can get away with the calories when your dinner is soup and bread.

As my plan came together, I realized I had only one problem: I had only one stockpot. I didn’t feel like shopping for a new stockpot, but I did have time to order one online. I found a Magnalite 10 quart covered stockpot. It’s oven safe, so I can use it stove-top or in the oven, and it has a 50 year limited warranty. It will work well for my party and for years to come. Now all I have to do is decide which two soup recipes I like the best, complement with some homemade appetizers and finish the night off with a good dessert. Once I’ve made my menu list, I’ll go to work on a grocery list and head out to the store. I think this may become an annual party I’ll throw for my friends.

I wear my silver necklace pendant almost all the time. It represents a very dear and recently departed dog, which I still think about at some point almost every day. I went shopping recently for some new kitchen linens and really could find anything I loved. One of my nephews has this bad habit of eating chocolates most of the time.  Though eating chocolates is not entire bad for health per say, we are worried that he might spoil his teeth by eating sticky chocolates most of the time.  My sister has tried several methods to wean him from this habit but has not succeeded so far.  We have even tried to lure him into eating dry fruits in place of chocolates, but somehow though he does not exactly dislike dry fruits, he has not stopped craving for chocolates and my sister had more or less given up all hopes.
